[1]Above is a collection of some of my favorite pieces | By rolling over any of the above images, you can go to the detailed page about that piece.
[1.1] Further down this page, in section [6], I have begun construction of a complete list of my paintings. Many of the paintings I have completed were not recorded before parting with them. In such cases, I will try to remember the title and describe the piece. Inevitably, there will be pieces left out.
[2] Artist Bio | I was born on April 7th, 1979 in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. When I was seven, I moved to live with my grandparents in Cape Coral, Florida. I became interested in the arts and sciences early and began studying computer science and astronomy at about the time I was nine. I have practiced forms of drawing and painting since elementary school. In high school, I won an award for best horror story in the News Press. I attended Tulane University in New Orleans from 1997-2001, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a degree in Philosophy and a degree in Cogntive Studies in 2001. I won an award for a thesis examining the nature of consciousness. None of these latter things have anything to do, directly, with visual art. However, these studies have largely informed my subject matter and my other interests.
[2.1] In the summer of 2001, I was fortunate enough to be able to travel a large portion of Europe and I participated in a number of extreme sports, including skydiving, in the Swiss Alps. In 2001, I moved to Los Angeles and began painting the following summer when I moved back to New Orleans. While in New Orleans the second time, from 2002-2004, I lived in Mid City and spent a lot of time socializing and working in the Quarter. This was a time when I was making good money and I was painting a piece or two a week.
[2.2] However, things went badly with work and money. I moved around Florida for a while after that, living in Cape Coral, Ft. Myers, Miami, Tampa, and Orlando. During this time, from 2005-2007, I had some of the most productive and vibrant periods in my career. In early 2007, I spent time in England and The Netherlands before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in the spring of 2007. Since then, I have gotten married and my wife and I have triplet boys. I have been spending more time writing philosophy and fiction due to constraints of space and time but I have already begun painting again at a higher pace in the beginning of the summer of 2010.
[2.3] I maintain a site called hiartx.com where I write about various topics, philosophy, computers, and science.
[3] Artistic Overview | My artisitic goals consist of experimenting with vibrant colors and novel forms. In each piece or short series of pieces, I attempt to capture a certain painting style and color arrangement that is different. In doing this experimentation, I sometimes achieve something decent or I fail rather terribly. Once in a long while, I paint something good.
[3.1] Painting abstract expressionist pieces is a constant process of evolving tastes and representational modes on the part of the artist. In certain mental states, bright, vibrant colors appeal to me. Later, perhaps in a more down mood, I may look back and wonder what I was thinking to have made this or that piece. In any case, if even one of my paintings ever affects even one other human being, then I have exceeded in my success.
[3.2] However, there are a certain few creations that I always like and, when my disposition allows, these few works cause me to feel a sense of accomplishment in that I created such a particular piece at all. I do enjoy most of my art, but, a lot of it is dissapointing to me. So, I must see every error as a symbol of what does not work. And, often, what does not work for me changes and, what works for others is astonishingly unique.
[3.3] I have had generous praise directed towards some of my least favorite paintings and this has sometimes lifted my opinon of it. However, the opposite is also true and people have brought my particular opinion of a piece down a bit. But, no matter the public opinion, the friend's opinion, or any other opinions at all, I tend to find some few of my artworks to be interesting and novel. This seems to largely overlap with the observations of others as many of the pieces I like most are always the quickest to leave my collection.

[4] Artistic Influences |Although I am no art historian by any means, I find no better pastime than experiencing good art be it in a museum, movie, or music. Art comes in many wonderful forms, but here are some of my visual or painter influences. If I had to name some of the most important or impressive to me, then it would be at least the following individuals | Marc Chagal, Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, early Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Caravaggio, early Jackson Pollack, Hovsep Pushman, George Innes, Michaelangelo, Georgia O'Keeffe, Mark Rothko, Rich Frederick (RLF), Trinity Rivard, Giorgio Tuscani, Maida Milan, Guillermo Portales, Mark T. McGee, Chris Radcliffe, Heiden Hippert, Gary Gist, and David Kramer.
[5] Key for the following list | The following list is a new project I am embarking on to categorize my artwork. Inevitably, because my life has been, at times, chaotic to say the least, many of the paintings I have parted with I neither remember well nor have record of. I would estimate the number of pieces I have not recalled is in the few dozen range and the number of pieces, in total, that I have little to no records of, is about fifty or so.
[?] Any use of the question mark means that I'm not completely sure of a particular early piece's name or size. I can, however, usually describe, in some detail, many of the lost pieces or pieces that were sold, left behind, or given away before I took recordings of them. There was a period of a few years, especially in my second two years in New Orleans, from 2002-2004, where I simply painted and left behind many works without taking photos of them. I was not confident of my work then and considered the period, at the time, practice more than anything. Because I have only a small amount of formal training in art (some drawing courses and pottery), I decided to learn through experimentation with all manner of paints and surfaces for many years. Since about 2004 and beyond, I have decent records and images of most of my work.
